Blast on the Beach 2002 Reunion

Recap of Events

The first arrivals were Bob and Rena Gomach on Wednesday June 19th at 1230 hours.

Tom Indelicato arrived 12 hours later at 0100 hours Thursday June 20th.

Thursday afternoon the Gomach’s, Indelicato and Zazz had lunch at Tom’s favorite 3rd World Bar on Treasure Island, "Nick’s Sea Breeze".

Thursday afternoon arrivals were Don and George Joye and British Author and Journalist Michela Wrong.

Dave Marcos and Dave Engstrom were early Thursday evening arrivals.

An impromptu cocktail party was held on the Sun Coast Motel’s beachfront patio at sunset on Thursday!

Friday arrivals: Bob Dymond, Tom and Jan McCrea, George Evans, Steve Weigel, Ken Hanley and Harvey Nichols.

The Friday night BBQ was held at The Birdsong next door to the Sun Coast Motel. BBQ Chicken, Smoked Ham, and Italian Sausage & Peppers were served with an assortment of salads. breads and baked beans.

Mick McCombs and his wife also attended the Friday BBQ.

Don (mandolin) and George (guitar) Joye with Dave Marcos (guitar) sitting in for a few songs provided the night’s entertainment.

Saturday’s arrival was Paul Caruso who brought a great video of Super 8 films taken at Kagnew and in Asmara circa ‘66-’67. The group gathered at Zazz’s place and viewed the video and a slide show provided by Don Joye on Saturday afternoon.

Gary "Garu" Field made a brief appearance at The Sun Coast Motel on Saturday afternoon!

The Banquet dinner was held at Captain Kosmakos Restaurant and Lounge between 1900 and 2300 hours Saturday! A CD of music that was popular at Kagnew between ‘65-’69 was given to all that attended! View Banquet Menu!

Sunday morning and early afternoon was a time for farewells at the Sun Coast Motel. Tom Indelicato and George Evans were not leaving until Monday and spent Sunday night with Zazz at Captain Kosmakos Restaurant for dinner and cocktails.
